Since 1970, director Ian Dimond has sought the essential ingredients in design for architecture, reappearing in ocean-based pursuits of surfing, fishing and saltwater daydreaming. "There are some necessary, cross-disciplinary threads in building and surfboard design: looks good, works well, ages well." For Ian, 50 years in architecture, almost matches his 55 years in the water. Dimond Architects has been anchored to a creative craft of intelligent design; utilising the efficiency of material, producing timelessness and a long-term commitment to community; resulting in a people-centred architecture.
"A still warm mist of morning clears to a steamy Queensland summer's day. Humidity's rising. Small glassy beach breaks are emptied as exponents of surf and architecture converge. With a film of salt just perceptible, brows focussed on design: projects in the making. The smell of cut grass and a hint of seaweed. A powerful reminder of our roots. A fibro shack, boards on the lawn and the thud of empty swells just far enough away... "

We remain convinced that good design and community benefit is derived from the collaborative inventiveness of architects, clients and end-users.
In 23 years, we have been involved in over 600 projects. These encompass small residential renovations to sizeable complex building types including commercial, aged care, education, multi-unit residential, church and community and commercial fit-outs.
Originating on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, our work was mainly regionally based; however, it has spread from Victoria to Vanuatu and South East Asia.
Founded in 1998 upon solid experience, we are energised by youthfulness and enthusiasm. Dimond Architects has been the recipient of awards for projects including residential and performance venues; always looking forward to what the future holds.
